The difference between analog and digital: An electronic signal that is sent as binary digits of either ON or OFF. In the illustration to the right, is a digital signal that is up or down for either ON or OFF, unlike an analog signal that is more like a wave. This example also illustrates a digital picture where a pixel is turned either ON or OFF helping to create an image on a display. Analog allows equipment to handle information that continuously changes such as voltage, current, and wave.

Assignment 4

1. Discuss what the main idea of the video is?
Our future generations are changing and they do not have the same way of thinking as their parents did when they were young. The video shows us how we are losing our values starting with the lack of communication with our families. There are different kinds of people that have either a future or past oriented way of thinking. They either look forward or stay behind.

 2. Do you see yourself as past oriented or future oriented? Why?
I see myself as a future oriented person because instead of focusing on what happened, I focus on what will happen. If I mess up, I let it go and focus on how I will change to become better. Even though I do look on my past successes and failures, it is not as important for me as the future that I'm leading myself into.

 3. Do you agree or disagree with the speaker in the video? Explain why?
I agree because our technology is changing each and everyday like he explained. With that technology, our ways of thinking are being influenced as well. We either think towards the future or towards our past. We are also, like he said, not interacting with our families as much.

 4. Do you agree with the speaker's view that young adults' minds are being "digitally rewired"? Explain your answer.
I agree because the youth of today is changing towards a more dependent way of being. They are more dependent towards technology and they are changing with technology. Like the speaker said, they get bored in class due to the fact that they are not in their own world, creating and inventing it.

 5. Why does the narrator in the video argue that young people dislike a single-function device such as a wristwatch?
People dislike the watch because it performs one task at a time. They are so used to using multitask objects that they  think that the watch is useless. They can easily just take out their cell phone and check the time. The wristwatch is something that young people don't really need.

1. Why did Sir Tim Berner's Lee decide to make the World Wide Web free when he created it at CERN?
Tim Berner Lee wanted the world wide web to be available for everyone. He wanted everyone to have the opportunity to use it. He believed that it was not something that you should pay for, instead it should be free for everyone.

2. What are the benefits of having "web addresses," an idea that Sir Tim Berner's Lee created?
It is a great idea because there are so many web pages on the internet that with this each site will have its own address. If all websites had the same address you would not be able to find the website you are looking for. Also, the idea of having the web address translated from "computer" language to our language was a great idea because that way we can understand what it is saying.

3. How does the World Wide Web allow people from all over the world to communicate?
We can communicate through blogs, social networks, e-mails, and via other methods thanks to the world wide web. We can talk to people from the other side of the world instantly. The world wide web has facilitated humans to communicate to other people in a cheaper and faster way.

4. Why is it important to link information? What are the benefits of having instant access to information?
Because of links, webpages are all connected as the word says, a "web." We are able to take ourselves form one site to another with just a click. It is easier and faster because it takes you instantly to the next page you want to go to.

 8. Research how computers play a crucial part in nearly every government agency. Pick an agency and discuss how that agency uses computers and why computers make their jobs easier. Some examples of government agencies that use technology frequently are the U.S. Census Bureau, IRS, Military, and Police.

The FBI, for instance, uses computers to perform several tasks such as to connect via email, distribute payments through the computer, keep record of incidents, and direct-mail promotions. Emails allow workers to compose, send, or read emails form other workers and people outside the company and can be easier and moe efficient than phone calls or texts. Distributing payments is easier to accomplish through email and therefore you don't need to give it directly to the person. The FBI has many incidents happening around the world therefore, the computer is a great tool to keep record of everything that happens and have a good history of the events with the tremendous amount of memories that the computer has. The computer is very useful and has helped many federal agencies such as the FBI.
